[The strangest thing this time for Izuku is that Damian is in a different outfit. With the clothes given to him, plus the needle and thread, he has made something loosely fitted, and very Eastern in style. There's also a hood, and he has it pulled far up over his head and face, obscuring it in shadow.
But the figure comes out of the house like Damian, walks like Damian. Damian's voice even says:] I never did a quest, but I'll take it.
I'm going to give it to Dextera for the chickens, but I'd still like to acquire some geese. I'll build my own.
Oh, wow! Robin, did you make all that from the clothes I gave you? That's amazing! [He's genuinely impressed, okay. The most he can do with a needle and thread is fix up some tears.]
Ah, I'm sure Dextera-san would be happy with the gift. If you need materials, I can show you where my friend stored up a bunch of the metal and wood pieces we had from cleaning up the town. The depot's for everyone in town to share.
Fine. I'll replenish what I use. [He may be an asshole, but he's at least learned to be polite? A little. Thank Bruce. And Alfred. And especially Dick Grayson.] Are quest rewards always random?
There's one more thing. [He's ready otherwise. Most of the stuff he had on him with the suit, he's still got on him now. Because... Bats.] You can't tell anyone what I'm going to reveal. Not a soul. If I find out, I'll make you regret it.
[Carefully, Damian pulls off the hood as if it's some kind of dramatic reveal. It's honestly not anything surprising. He's a young boy, looks younger than he might actually be, but close to Izuku's age. His dark hair and face resemble a certain man here, but only if Izuku has run into Bruce Wayne. His eyes, however, are from his mother, green.
And based on their shape, the color of his skin, he's definitely not simple whitebread. Depending on how good Izuku is with ethnicities, or if Izuku even cares to pick it out, he seems Middle Eastern.] My name is Damian.
We keep our normal identity and our working identity separate. You don't know I'm Robin when I'm out of the uniform. And you don't know I'm Damian when I'm in it.
[While Izuku is obviously studying him and taking note of his features, he hasn't met Bruce yet, so he doesn't make the connection just yet. He does notice the eye color, though, and it makes him smile. Hey, they match!]
Damian-kun. [Izuku says, trying the name out as he processes all this. He's getting a feeling that this is yet another difference between their worlds.] So, keeping your identities separate is a big deal in your world. Kind of like the old superhero comics we used to have. [It's more of a mumble to himself than anything.
When he looks up again, he gives Damian a serious nod.] I promise I won't say anything.
[Even if civilian and hero identities are pretty interchangeable in his own world, this obviously is really important to Damian and he'd trusted Izuku enough to tell him. Izuku won't betray that trust if he can help it.]
[Of course, he opens his mouth to tell Izuku that the honorific isn't necessarily, but then... he closes his mouth. It's fine. That's Izuku's culture, and he won't infringe on that. If Izuku wants to call him Damian-kun, that's better than calling him, like, Shithead.] I'm trusting you. Don't disappoint me.
[It almost seems like that might be all of it, but Guren isn't moving, and he's focused on Izuku for a long few seconds.]
But before you do go back to it, I have something else to tell you. This isn't something to spread unnecessarily, but two vampires from my home showed up, and one of them hates my guts.
Are they... really dangerous? [Are they one of the nobility, specially, his expression asks. Guren wouldn't be mentioning this if it weren't important.]
The one who doesn't really hate me is stronger. We're working towards the same goal back home, right now.
[So, not much to worry about? Hopefully? He spoke to him and has it under control in his eyes.] The other one, Mikaela, is friends with a kid I took in, Yuu. He doesn't like my influence or how I'm using his power. It's a long story, and he's right about a lot of things.
But I have a lot to do no matter what he feels. He's tried to kill me before, but he might hesitate just because he cares about Yuu so much. And despite him trying all of that, he's a good kid himself. A human turned vampire against his will. He's strong, and he acts like a loner, but he had a family once, too. A family like we have here.
[That...doesn't do much to appease his worries. In fact, he has even more questions now.]
That's awful. [Izuku says quietly. Losing nearly everyone you cared about...that must've been painful. Though Izuku hasn't met Mikaela yet, he still feels a pang of sympathy for him.]
What did you mean, though? About why he doesn't like you?
Blonde, around your age, with red eyes and white clothes. His fangs stand out.
[Vampire fangs are hard to miss!] He'll be hanging out near the forest, so I wanted to warn you that he's not hostile, but don't push him. He might actually like you, until you mention that you like me, so say it carefully.
[Izuku puffs up immediately--with his hair plastered against his head from the rain and his clothes drenched, the sight is more ridiculous than intimidating.]
