[But his friends are more important. Besides, the heroes could take care of it.]

... I moved closer to you? But I do that every morning.

It's probably new. We'll figure it out. [There's not enough information to go on, to make any guesses just yet.

For now, Izuku smiles up at him, oddly tentative.] You didn't even question it when you got my message. [Shouto had been worried about him even back then. And he'd called him his friend, too.]

You're smart. There's no way you'd send out your location to everybody without a reason.

[And that reason was mortal peril.]

[Izuku presses his face into Shouto chest for a moment, oddly silent. Then, muffled--]

I've...never really had anyone do that for me before. [Trust him and even run into danger willingly, he means.] And you barely knew me back then.

... Ah. I called you a friend before you really said we were...

[Should he not have?]

I don't regret it.

It's not a bad thing. [Immediately shakes his head, not wanting Shouto to have that impression at all.]

I'm just surprised. I wanted us to be friends, Shouto--I'm glad you thought we were back then, too.

What's so surprising about it?

[Besides.... really. Everything about it.]

I just didn't know what you thought of me back then.

[Izuku doesn't regret meddling during the Sports Festival, but he did meddle. With the limited interaction he'd had with Shouto back then, he'd had no idea how things would turn out once the dust settled.]

We didn't really get a chance to talk. Stuff happened pretty fast.

[And Shouto's not the type to start talking in a group setting]

They really did. We barely had any time after the festival before internships happened... and then Stain.

[Izuku hooks his chin over Shouto's shoulder with a smile.]

Things could've ended really badly if you hadn't showed up.

It was good I made it in time.

Next time you text out your location try to give more information than that. [He leans back against Izuku]

I'll keep that in mind. [There's a tiny huff of amusement as Izuku shifts. As soon as he turns his face into Shouto's neck, there's a pulling sort of feel as another memory activates--

There's a stinging pain in your cheek from the punch All Might just delivered. He might not have the quirk anymore, but the hit was so unexpected, you didn't even have time to dodge.

"At the end of the day, you still run headlong into danger every time! Despite all our warnings, you still go and get all beat up!"

All you can do is stare up at All Might, clutching your cheek, as you're scolded fiercely.

"But this time! For the first time, you managed to walk away unharmed. I'm so glad."

You flinch when All Might suddenly reaches for you, but instead of another whack on the head, you feel a gentle pressure at the back of your head, and All Might's skinny frame leaning into you as he draws you into a hug.

"From now on, I can focus on raising you right. Even though I've been reduced to this state, let's do our best okay?"

The tears start slipping down your cheeks as you stutter--

And Izuku flinches away, blinking rapidly like he can still feel the tears welling up in his eyes.]

[That's a lot of strength in All Might's punch, even though he's clearly less strong than he used to be. It hurts. The punch feels familiar, even if what follows is something his own father would never ever think about saying to him.

There's a kindness to the scolding that Shouto's not used to, the hug even less expected. He can't stop himself from tearing up either- there's a warmth to it that he hasn't really felt from a father figure.

It's different between Izuku and All Might. They mean more.

There's something between them.]

[It's the first time in a really long time that Izuku's felt awkward around Shouto. He shifts uncomfortably under the blanket, scooting juuust out of reach so they're not touching any longer.

Of all the memories to share... Izuku knows that Shouto will probably have questions. So he stays quiet, and waits for them.]

[Shouto wants to roll closer to him, but for now, he'll give him some space. Where does he start? It's hard to settle on anything.]

Are... All Might is raising you?

[That's a start, anyway.]

Not...exactly. [Izuku drags a hand down his face, sighing quietly.]

We never told anyone, but... All Might and I knew each other before U.A. He was helping me train--that's what he meant.

How long have you known each other?

[Maybe they aren't father and son, but there's definitely something going on there.

While he was right back during the sports festival, saying it wasn't his business-- now that they're dating he feels like it's a little bit his business.]

I met All Might...about a year before we started U.A.

[Sheepishly, scratches at his cheek.]

I had a run in with a villain...All Might had to save me.

I guess that explains why he's always checking on you. Does he do that with everybody he saves?

Well... [Izuku hesitates again before shaking his head. It's his honesty that makes it so hard to pick and choose what he says.] Maybe not.

The encounter I had with him wasn't exactly normal, but.. to be honest, I'm not sure why All Might took in interest in me to begin with.

[What did he do to make such an impression that All Might would make him his successor? Though All Might's told him before, Izuku sometimes still finds himself stunned that it happened in the first place.]

You have to ask All Might about it, if you're really curious. I mean, he's here now so it's not impossible.

I don't know, but I'm grateful.
