[Shouto's back home and storming into their room- before just draping himself over Izuku. It seems like it'll be difficult to move him, not because he's heavy, but because he's going to be incredibly clingy for a while.]
Mm they caught us by surprise when we were underwater. We must have accidentally intruded on their territory or something.
[Bit by bit, Izuku relaxes, then turns his face into Shouto's neck with a sigh.]
They must've sent us back up to the shore after we finished doing what they wanted. I was hoping I could ask them a few questions... they didn't talk much, though--or, actually they didn't talk at all.
[He sounds a bit guilty now. If they'd at least gotten something out of the not!mermaids, it would've at least made up for disappearing like this a little.]
Like many others, he'd been patrolling the harbor for the past few days for any sign of the missing group, but it figures that they'd return right from under everyone's noses.
Instead of bothering to respond to the forum post, Aizawa makes his way to Midoriya's place as soon as he catches wind of what happened. While his overall experience with Chroma's meddling is minimal compared to those who've been there for far longer, he still considers this to be a real threat and he feels obligated to retain some of his responsibilities from back home.
Which means confirming Midoriya's safety and overall health above all else before scolding him in some capacity. Aizawa doesn't waste any time as soon as he reaches his destination, knocking on the door and staring pointedly at his student as soon as the door swings open.]
[The door creaks open slowly and Izuku peeks out from behind it, sheepishness all over his expression as he does so. As soon as he'd figured out how long he and the others had been gone, he'd known that he would get a visit from his teacher at some point.
It's probably a good thing he'd at least told Aizawa where he was going or he'd be in way more trouble.]
I'm really sorry, sensei. We ran into some trouble and we didn't have a way to send messages back to town.
[Well at least Midoriya is well-aware of why he's making a house visit.
Aizawa refrains from reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose. It's not like Midoriya hadn't informed him ahead of time of his intentions, and given the foundation of their relationship there's no avoiding the risks that come with the territory of wanting to become a pro Hero.
Still, there's still too little they know about this place, and the fact that Midoriya himself is bewildered by his own disappearance only serves to prove that the measures they put into ensuring everyone's safety just isn't enough.
However, that can wait, and even though Midoriya is obviously well enough to answer the door Aizawa's first question is a simple—]
Yeah.. it feels like the more we find out about this place, the more ominous it feels. [Izuku shakes his head slightly.] Still, I'm glad I got to meet everyone here! I wouldn't change that part, no matter how weird things might get.
[That draws a smile out of him.] I will! Thanks, Sorey-kun. You'll do the same if you need help, right?
[Izuku nods slowly. What had happened to All Might had hit them all hard--the only person he's ever talked to about this before was Bakugou. And that wasn't his choice at all.]
Arisato-kun, have you ever talked to anyone before about... what happened to you?
[Izuku smile turns wobbly, his eyes gaining a suspicious sheen to them.]
Thanks, Arisato-kun. [As much as Izuku has learned to ignore all of the naysayers, it still means a lot to him when someone finds the time to actually tell him this.]
Hearing that from you makes me happy. [He adds softly, a moment later. He can't help but wonder how things could have been different if someone had said these words to him in his loneliest times growing up.]
I don't know that there was ever really a need to. A lot of people have been through a lot of painful things in their lives, so I guess there was never any real reason to bring it up.
[Minato just smiles in return, expression soft. Izuku's really been through so much, hasn't he...?
But he's still here, standing strong, wanting to do nothing more than to help people.
... He's really a good person.]
It's just what I believe. After all... I've met a few heroes, and it was absolutely because of who they were as people that they were able to be the heroes they are.
[Yukari, standoffish but sincerely kind. Junpei, silly but determined to make a difference. Akihiko, trying so hard to protect what he could grasp and Mitsuru bearing the world on her shoulders. Shinji, who had deserved better but still saved someone in the time he had. Fuuka, who felt more for everyone around her than anyone, Ken, who loved heroes more than anyone, Koromaru and his loyalty and Aigis, a steadfast protector.
And Ryoji, too, right? In his own way, hadn't he tried to save them? In his own way, Minato believes Ryoji, too, had the soul of a hero.]
[It's not fair, that just hearing it makes his heart beat a little faster. (Even though he said it first!) He still can't believe that any of this happened.]
You have really bad timing, Shouto. [There's a smile in his voice.] I was just writing....a letter to you when you showed up so suddenly.
