[Things had been happening a lot lately, or so it felt. People dying and coming back, people disappearing and not coming back. Usually.
Between all of that and the attacks, he hadn't had a chance to actually come and talk to Izuku. It wasn't until he saw the younger boy come home with a greatly bandaged arm that he finally took the opportunity to have some kind of talk with him.
So, that's why he's currently standing outside Izuku's bedroom door. He frowns at it for a moment before tentatively knocking on it.]
Izuku? Can I come in?
[He's not entirely sure if Shouto's in there too or not and he'd rather respect their privacy if he is.]
Ah... [Well, he'd brought up the letters without thinking about it, but now he's realizing that this means he'll end up showing them to Shouto after all. The blush crawls back up his neck and into his cheeks.]
[In a way, Izuku's always known that. Though he admires All Might's strength, it's always been his giving nature and his determination to save everyone that had drawn Izuku to him in the first place. It's different when he's hearing it in relation to himself, though.
Izuku leans forward slightly, letting his chin rest in his hand.]
Will you tell me about them? The heroes that you know of.
While it's definitely embarrassing for Izuku, Shouto's just happy to hear about both of them wanting to confess. It's a little funny that they decided to do it around the same time.]
I didn't get very far... [Writing letters like this is hard!! Who knew?
But Izuku pulls back so he can gesture at the table--it's still littered with his many attempts, all crumpled up except for the one he was working on when Shouto interrupted, if Shouto wants to look. All of them have crossed out variations of "Shouto, there's something I wanted to tell you. I really like you." written on them.]
I had a hard time figuring out what to say. [Maybe he was overthinking it a little, but it felt like no matter what, he just couldn't find the right words to express himself.]
[Minato agrees with that easily, expression warm as he thinks of them. Obviously he can't talk about all of them, but after a moment's thought, he settles on:]
There was this guy back home I ended up getting to know...he was kind of goofy and silly a lot of the time. He didn't really know what to do with himself at first.
But he ended up meeting someone who changed his entire world view, and after that... he became someone, I think, who really understood what it meant to need to protect people.
