So you're allowed to kiss me but I have to tell you? That doesn't seem fair.

[Called out??? Izuku gasps.]

I...I didn't mean it that way!! It's just, you surprised me and surprise kisses are just...really ... [He trails off, pressing his hands to his cheeks now. Words are hard when you're flustered!!]

You can kiss me when you want to!! [Okay, that was way louder than he had actually intended to be, and it's right then that Izuku gives up explaining altogether. Don't mind him just resting (aka hiding) his burning face against Shouto's shoulder again.]

[glaciers]

[Called right out. Like Izuku didn't just give him a surprise kiss.

But Shouto looks very pleased. So he's allowed to kiss Izuku whenever he'd like? Then he'll kiss the top of his head.]

Then I will. I'd like to kiss you a lot.

[inheritance]

[Izuku's hand curls in Shouto's shirt, as he stays right where he is, refusing to lift his head just yet. This is...a lot to process, and Shouto isn't giving him a chance to recover at all.]

You keep saying things like that when I'm not prepared.

[It's not good for his heart!!]

[He's perfectly willing to stay like this for as long as Izuku would like. An armful of Izuku is very nice.]

I don't know how to prepare you for them.

[inheritance]

I don't either... [How does one even prepare for something like this??

What he does know is that--]

I'm really happy, Shouto. [And stunned that all of this just happened, but mostly happy!] Being with you makes me really happy.

[glaciers]

[Shouto's just happy. He was fully prepared to just drop his feelings in a box and pretend they didn't exist. But first he had to tell Izuku about it, it's not fair to him to not know.

Instead, he just hugs Izuku closer, kissing the top of his head again.]

I'm really happy too. I didn't expect you to feel the same way.

[inheritance]

You didn't? [Slowly, Izuku relaxes, and he circles his arms loosely around Shouto's waist.

He remembers then, how Shouto had needed verbal confirmation about being best friends just a little while ago, too. Maybe...this is the same?]

Of course I feel the same way. You're amazing. [Izuku hopes that he can convince Shouto of this with his words, too.]

[glaciers]

[There are some things Shouto will assume, his own strength, his ability to fight. When it comes to interpersonal things- he's not practiced enough to feel comfortable assuming.

Hearing Izuku say they're best friends, that Izuku feels the same way- that's reassuring. Because it's Izuku Shouto believes him. They've got no reason to lie to each other.]

I just wanted to tell you so you'd know. If you wanted me to move out...

[He would if Izuku asked.]

[inheritance]

[Izuku shakes his head slightly, unwilling to pull away from him this time.]

I don't want you to move out. Stay. Please.

[The last few words are spoken softly. It's only because Izuku's fairly certain that Shouto wants to stay, too, that he allows himself to utter these selfish thoughts.]

[glaciers]

[Good. Then they're on the same page here.]

I wouldn't leave unless you asked me to. I like you too much to leave you alone here.

[inheritance]

[Izuku smiles, leaning into him even more heavily as he tightens his arms around Shouto.]

Then... I guess you're stuck here. With me. [A second later, he adds shyly--] Boyfriend.

[glaciers]

[Oh!

Ooohhh! It's nice when Izuku says it. So he'll say it right back.]

My boyfriend. I'm not stuck if I want to be here.

[inheritance]

[It's not fair, that just hearing it makes his heart beat a little faster. (Even though he said it first!) He still can't believe that any of this happened.]

You have really bad timing, Shouto. [There's a smile in his voice.] I was just writing....a letter to you when you showed up so suddenly.

[glaciers]

[Izuku, you can't get flustered when you're the one who starts it!]

...? What was the letter about?

[inheritance]

[Says who!!]

Ah... [Well, he'd brought up the letters without thinking about it, but now he's realizing that this means he'll end up showing them to Shouto after all. The blush crawls back up his neck and into his cheeks.]

It was... a confession letter. To you.

[glaciers]

[Says a lot of people! Probably!

While it's definitely embarrassing for Izuku, Shouto's just happy to hear about both of them wanting to confess. It's a little funny that they decided to do it around the same time.]

... Can I read it?

[inheritance]

I didn't get very far... [Writing letters like this is hard!! Who knew?

But Izuku pulls back so he can gesture at the table--it's still littered with his many attempts, all crumpled up except for the one he was working on when Shouto interrupted, if Shouto wants to look. All of them have crossed out variations of "Shouto, there's something I wanted to tell you. I really like you." written on them.]

I had a hard time figuring out what to say. [Maybe he was overthinking it a little, but it felt like no matter what, he just couldn't find the right words to express himself.]

[glaciers]

[He'll pick up one of them, reading the crossed out words.]

... That's all you had to say. Right? It gets everything across.

[This was basically what Shouto said to him. If he's blunt enough Shouto will get it just fine.]

[inheritance]

I...guess. [Izuku watches him, still fiddling with the hem of his shirt.]

You mean a lot to me, Shouto. I just felt like I should say...more. Somehow.

[The cons of having a habit of overthinking everything.]

[glaciers]

... No. That's enough. If you're being honest and straightforward, that's the best approach.

[Of course he'd think that.]

[inheritance]

Okay. [Finally, his smile returns. If Shouto says it's good enough, then he must mean it.

His worries evaporated, the giddiness returns and Izuku throws his arms around Shouto again.]

I like you, Shouto. [He's just going to say it again, because he actually can, now. And you know, just in case Shouto wanted to hear it again.]

[glaciers]

[Yes, this is much better. Izuku smiling and hugging him and being honest- this is what he's wanted, isn't it?]

I like you, Izuku.

[And maybe he's still a little too unsure for a proper kiss, but he will kiss Izuku's cheek.]

[inheritance]

[Cheek kisses and forehead kisses seem safe enough, even though they still make Izuku blush. Anything more than that would probably make him short-circuit...for now, at least. Izuku would like to kiss Shouto eventually--ahhh, he's just glad he was already blushing, or Shouto might wonder what he was thinking about. Time to change the subject!

Izuku clears his throat a little, in a totally not obvious way (it's obvious).]

H-hey, Shouto? How did you figure it out? I just realized it a couple days ago.

[glaciers]

[Oh, one day they're definitely going to have a for real, lip to lip kiss. But... that's not today. Not when it's still something new and precious and Shouto's still unsure what he can and can't do.

Best to stay cautious.]

I was talking to Okuyasu over the network.

[Which means: Everybody saw Shouto's epiphany.]
