Then promptly makes a face.]

The roofs are sturdy enough for traveling on, but I'm not so sure about sparring. That might just make them collapse under us. Next to the forest sounds like a technically safer option.

Yeah, okay, sounds like a plan to me. [ he'll start walking... ] Btw, what kind of ground rules do you want, or do you want any...?

[A slight frown tugs at his lips.] Ummm... I can't think of anything off the top of my head. [The joys of being in a hero school where even class spars can get ridiculously violent.]

Ichinose-sensei did say that the main points we need to work on are my speed and your strength. Maybe I could work on trying to catch you while you try to throw harder hits?

I usually use a sword - is it ok to use it, or should I be learnin' to throw a punch?

[ HE'S NOT BUILT FOR THIS, IZUKU...he is a lean noodle, and all his muscles are speed/sword based for like. speed stats. ]

Though if you want to learn how to throw a punch or increase your strength I could probably help you with that, too.

Sounds good to me! [For someone who's not wearing much protective gear, Izuku sounds supremely unconcerned. Then again, when you've faced someone like Stain who's really trying to kill you with a sword, dealing with a friendly spar like this isn't too worrying.]

How does this area look? [Izuku stops as they finally reach the forest. There's not much here that they can really destroy with their practicing, thankfully.]

Looks good to me. Okay, so...we have our rules in place, so like. Do we need a safe word - wait that makes this sound so much worse than it is. How about if one of us says stop we just, like, stop. No questions asked?

[Lucky for Dave, the safe word comment sails right over Izuku's head. Though Izuku isn't sure why Dave looks so uncertain about all this suddenly, he nods agreeably.]

That sounds reasonable! We can say "stop" when we need a break or something or if it's getting too intense. Then, we can decide if we want to continue after that or call it a day!

[Then, with that warning, he activates his quirk, energy sparking across his skin as he jumps, moving much more quickly than a normal human being.]

[ fun fact: dave doesn't need to do energy sparking to move fast. he just. moves.

Flashstep...how does that work?

[A new ability he can analyze! Spar-tag is put on momentary hold in light of this.]

Yeah pretty much? I was raised by pretty much a ninja, though.

[The look he gives Dave now is just baffled. Seriously, what is your life?]

A dude with similar speed, liked anime swords and shuriken, basically a ninja. You could go entire days without seein' him because he just flashstepped around the joint.

It may be semi-genetic...? My sister doesn't seem to have it, but yeah. She has...other things. Like, knitting needle magic.

Really? [As always, Izuku perks up at the mention of another power.]

So that means can she manipulate string and fabric?

No, she like, shoots dark magic out of her knitting needles.

[ sometimes she also stabs ogres in the eyes with them but dave leaves that part out. ]

[For a second, Izuku just goes quiet, and then he lets out a soft laugh.]

Okay, I wasn't expecting that one. Can she do anything without the needles?
