Why do you say that? He's the one organizing this so it makes sense that he'd have a student.

I don't think he'd take on a student that he didn't respect. That's just...the sense I get from talking to Ichinose-san a few times. That's all.

[Slowly, Izuku turns a little pink and ducks his head.]

Ah, he did mention he thinks he can help me get stronger. To be honest, I was surprised, because I thought he was just taking a second look at me when one of my friends talked me up.

[Izuku..... you're so humble.]

Well, I'm glad that he'll be able to help you get stronger.

Let's help each other too, okay? I'm sure we both have something to offer to learn from.

Definitely! [At that, Izuku regains his usual enthusiasm.]

Is there anything you wanted to work on in particular?

[Hmm...]

Honestly, I'm only okay at combat in general... I need more practice.

[inheritance]

Practice will help a lot! [He tilts his head suddenly.]

So Kyrie-san is your teacher... do you have a sparring partner?

[messianic]

I do. Akira-san and I will be sparring together soon. I'm interested to see how it goes.

[Honestly!! Two Purseowners sparring... not that he knows that yet.]

What about you?

Ah, I got paired up with Strider-kun! He's supposed to be really fast, so I'll have to work on being able to catch up to him.

[He smiles, enthusiasm practically radiating from him.] It'll be so interesting to see how everyone's abilities work!

[messianic]

[Izuku is so enthusiastic... it's endearing.]

... You're really excited about everyone's abilities and powers, aren't you?

Of course! [He immediately responds without thinking. A second later, he blushes.]

It's...sort of my hobby. I really like to analyze everyone's quirks back home...i-it's really special here, too, because we're from different worlds!

[messianic]

Your hobby...?

[...Well, he supposes in a world where everyone has some sort of ability, it makes sense as a hobby.]

You're right about that, at least. Seeing what everyone can do here is oddly exciting.

I've never seen anything like it... well, even with what you and your friends from home can do, really.

Yeah...even if it's just for a little while, at least we got to see this at all. Um, I mean, I might not have chosen to be here, but it's better to think about the positive aspects of this than the negative.

What about you, Arisato-kun? What made you start learning how to use the sword?

[messianic]

That's a good way to look at it, I think.

[Uh...]

But, well... I guess that's just what was on hand, really. I can't say that I'm particularly skilled with a sword, to be honest, but... I needed to be able to protect myself and my friends.

[Izuku looks interested--he understands that reasoning on a personal level, of course.]

Oh...that's a good reason to learn. Did something happen?

[messianic]

[Ah...

And, a little dryly:]

Doesn't something always happen...? Anyway, yeah, that's why I picked up a sword, but... I'm pretty ordinary otherwise. [sure.]

It sounds like with Quirks, though, you guys kind of have wanted to be heroes for a long time, right...?

I don't think that's ordinary, though. If you're doing this to protect your friends, I think that's amazing.

Ah, yeah... once quirks started showing up, it took a while for society to figure out what to do with people who had them. [He's really getting into this explanation here, complete with hand gestures!] In the end, though, a lot of these quirks are used for hero work! There's a system in place to monitor them and compensate for the hero's work and a ranking system... it's really admirable what heroes have been doing to help people.

[messianic]

[... Deku please. Minato chooses to not... respond to that...because it's embarrassing and too much praise.

It doesn't matter. More importantly, Quirks and Izuku's clear excitement over them.]

Whoa... so you live in a society where there are a lot of heroes protecting people...?

[That sounds kind of amazing no matter how he looks at it.]

Yup! We have schools with hero courses now, too. UA--that's the school I go to--is really known for theirs!

I think all heroes are great, but of course there's always the one who really stands out. Like All Might. [If you thought he was excited before, he's practically sparkling now. There's no mistaking who his favorite is. Never mind that the guy's his mentor now.]

[messianic]

[... Huh... he's sparkling so brightly... it's almost blinding...]

... A hero who really stands out, huh...?

What makes him stand out so much?

[inheritance]

He's the best there is! When he made his debut, he saved over a hundred people on his own! And he held the number one spot for a really long time!

[His excitement then softens, the smile on his face gentler.]

More than that, though, he's known as the Symbol of Peace. You know he'll always do the right thing, and you can't help but be reassured whenever he's there.

[messianic]

[A Symbol of Peace, huh...? That's... pretty amazing, he can't deny it.]

He sounds incredible.

[A bit of a pause, and:]

You really look up to him, don't you? [It's plain on Izuku's face, in his smile, in his brightness.]

He's the reason I wanted to become a hero in the first place.

[Izuku ducks his head, rubbing at his neck.] When you see someone like that, you can't help but look up to him.

[messianic]

[Izuku's hero origin story is surprisingly pure.

But...that also suits him a lot.]

Yeah. I think you're right. People need heroes like that, sometimes. So I guess you're training to inspire them just as much, huh?

[inheritance]

Me? [Izuku practically jumps in shock, losing that starry-eyed expression.]

I…I don’t know if I can inspire anyone like that. But I’d be happy just being able to get my license and help people!
